The number of real estate transactions in Romania (including houses, land and apartments) dropped 44.4% in January 2023, compared with the previous month, the National Agency for Cadaster and Land Registration (ANCPI) data showed.
Last month, 33,274 properties were sold throughout the country, 26,590 fewer than in December. The number of houses, land and apartments that were the subject of transactions in January is 6,236 less than in the same period of 2022.
In January 2023, the most real estate sales were recorded in Bucharest (6,945), Brasov (1,928) and Ilfov (1,458). The counties with the fewest properties sold in the same period are Teleorman (174), Covasna (180) and Olt (184).
The number of mortgages, nationally, in January 2023, was 16,389, 364 less than in January 2022. The most operations of this kind were registered in Bucharest (3,830) Tulcea (1,192) and Constanta (948). At the opposite pole are the counties of Covasna (31) Gorj (33) and Bistrita Nasaud (48).
The counties where the most agricultural land was sold in the first month of 2023 are Dolj (554) Buzau (435) and Braila (396).
Meanwhile, in December 2022, the volume of construction works in the country increased by 14.2% compared to November 2022, the National Institute of Statistics data showed.
The increase was reflected in maintenance and current repair works (+30.6%), in capital repair works (+21.2%) and in new construction works (+7.1%). By construction objects, rises were reported for engineering works (+20.8%), for non-residential buildings (+8.0%) and for residential buildings (+7.9%).
On an annual basis, the volume of construction works increased by 15.1% in December 2022, an increase reflected in capital repair works (+34.7%), in maintenance and current repair works (+29.6%) and in new construction works (+7.0%). By construction objects, rises were reported for non-residential buildings (+19.8%), for engineering works (+19.2%) and for residential buildings (+1.0%).
