CONSTRUCTION

-In September 2022, the volume of construction works increased, as gross series, by 8.2% compared to
August 2022 and was up 3.3% as adjusted series according to the number of working days and to
seasonality, National Institute of Statistics (INS) data showed. On a annual basis, the volume of construction works rose, as gross series, by 26.4% compared to September 2021 and was up 27.2% as adjusted series according to the number of working days and to seasonality.

-Poland-based Kotar, a manufacturer of thermal insulation systems, is set to build a production unit near Timisoara after having been only a wholesaler locally. The company leased a 2,250-sqm area in Sanandrei locality, Ziarul Financiar reported.

INFRASTRUCTURE

-Romania’s Black Sea port of Constanta posted the second-highest growth among European seaports in terms of freight handled in 2021, up 26% y-o-y (to 49.9 mln tonnes), after Belgium’s Zeebrugge (+27%), Eurostat data showed.

-Romania’s banking system net profit hit a new record high at the end of the first nine months of 2022, standing at RON7.6 billion, up around 20% y-o-y, as lending increased by an average pace of 16% year-on-year.
