CROATIA
A total of 906 building permits were issued in August 2024, which was 7.8% less than in August 2023. There are 1 337 dwellings with an average floor area of 101.6 m2 planned to be built. The total number of building permits issued in the period from January to August 2024, as compared to the same period of 2023, increased by 3.2%, the statistical office said.
CYPRUS
The total number of Cyprus property sales (as measured by the number of sales contracts deposited in Land Registry offices in the free areas of the island) stood at 1,289 in September, down 4% on an annual basis, according to official statistics published by the Department of Lands and Surveys. In January-September 2024 property sales grew by 1% compared with the same period last year.
GREECE
Out of a total of 2.1 billion euros of foreign direct investments made in the Greek economy in H1 2024, 54.2%, or €1.14 billion, concerns the acquisition of real estate, the Bank of Greece (BoG) data showed. In 2023, the share of the real estate market in foreign investment was 47%, as €2.1 million had flowed in, while total flows from abroad had reached €4.48 billion.

NORTH MACEDONIA
A total of 275 building permits were issued in North Macedonia in August, down 20.1% on an annual basis, the statistical office said on Thursday. Of the total number of permits, 165 were for new buildings, 45 were for civil engineering projects, and 65 were for reconstruction projects.
ROMANIA
The real estate and construction sector became the second largest recipient of foreign capital in Romania last year, after industry (38.6% of the FDI stock) and ahead of trade (17.1%) and financial intermediation and insurance (13.4%), according to central bank data analyzed by Cushman & Wakefield Echinox.

SERBIA
In August 2024, a total of 2 578 building permits was issued, presenting the decrease of 10.4% when compared to August 2023. Out of the total number of permits issued in August 2024, 83.7% related to buildings, and 16.3% to civil engineering constructions, the statistical office said.
